Drop-Off OK!? Couple Bikes & Boat Set Plans Available! 🚲⛵
If you want to see all the famous spots efficiently while feeling the refreshing sea breeze as you glide through the pine forest, renting a bicycle is the perfect choice!
Amanohashidate stretches 3.6 km across the bay — walking takes about 70 minutes, but by bike, you can cross it in just 20 minutes.
Enjoy the ride as you pedal through the shaded pine avenue, with the ocean shimmering on both sides.
There are several places around Amanohashidate that offer bicycle rentals, each with different options and styles — from tandem bikes for couples to bike-and-boat combination plans where you can return by sea.
In this guide, we’ll give you the most detailed overview of Amanohashidate’s rental bicycle services, helping you choose the best way to explore this scenic wonder at your own pace!

The most popular rental service is operated by Tango Kairiku Kōtsū, the same company that runs the sightseeing boats. 🚲⛴️
You can rent a bicycle on either side of Amanohashidate — at the Amanohashidate Pier (Monju side) or the Ichinomiya Pier (Fuchū side) — and the best part is that you can drop it off on the opposite shore!
Rental fees start at ¥400 for up to 2 hours, with an additional ¥200 per extra hour. However, before you rent, be sure to check out their discounted sightseeing passes, which combine the rental bike with the cable car and sightseeing boat — a great value for travelers who want to experience it all.
Here’s a perfect plan using the combo ticket:
Rent your bike at Amanohashidate Pier, ride across the sandbar to Ichinomiya Pier, and return the bike there. Then take the cable car up to Kasamatsu Park, the best viewpoint overlooking the entire Amanohashidate. After admiring the breathtaking scenery from above, hop on a sightseeing boat from Ichinomiya Pier back to Monju — a complete loop full of variety and views!
Alternatively, you can start your ride in reverse, beginning from Ichinomiya Pier on the Fuchū side. Cycle across to Amanohashidate Pier, then head up to Amanohashidate View Land, where you’ll get a sweeping panorama of the sandbar from the southern viewpoint.

And here’s a fun insider tip! 💡
At both the Amanohashidate Pier and Ichinomiya Pier run by Tango Kairiku Kōtsū, you can rent tandem bicycles (two-seaters)! 🚴♀️🚴♂️
If you’re visiting as a couple, definitely give one a try — pedaling together through the sacred “Land of Love Connections,” Amanohashidate, is sure to bring you even closer. 💕
If you’re just planning to go round-trip across Amanohashidate, there are great set plans available:
-
Sightseeing boat + bicycle: ¥900
-
Motorboat + bicycle: ¥1,000 (for groups of 4 or more / not available during Golden Week or Obon)
Ride across by bicycle and return by boat — the perfect plan for those who want to enjoy both land and sea views of Amanohashidate! 🌊
Another great option is “Charibō”, a bike-and-boat combo offered by Kasamatsu Kankō Motorboat, located right by the main entrance on the Monju side.
They also operate rental and drop-off stations near both sightseeing piers.
Prices are:
-
Adults: ¥900 (1 hour bike + boat)
-
Elementary school students: ¥600
-
Children (preschoolers): ¥400
Their adult bikes are stylish Bridgestone mini velos, and they also have kids’ bikes and bikes with child seats, making this a perfect choice for families as well. 👨👩👧👦

There are also plenty of other rental options available — at tourist information centers, souvenir shops, hotels, and bike stores on both sides of Amanohashidate. 🚲✨
Most places charge ¥400–¥500 for 2 hours, but some offer full-day rentals for ¥500–¥1,000, so you can choose the best plan depending on how long you’ll be staying.
If you prefer a more relaxed ride, an electric-assisted bicycle is highly recommended. ⚡
At the Michi-no-Eki “Umi no Kyōto Miyazu” (Roadside Station “Sea of Kyoto Miyazu”), located about a 10-minute walk from Miyazu Station, you can rent an electric bike for ¥500 (2 hours). While you’re out exploring, you can even park your car there for free — perfect for travelers coming by car.
It takes about 20 minutes by bike to reach Amanohashidate from the station, but this option is ideal if you want to explore not only the sandbar but also the scenic coastal roads and nearby attractions at your own pace.
This roadside station, which opened in November 2015, also houses a tourist information center where you can get maps and local travel tips. Before heading back, don’t forget to browse the selection of souvenirs and fresh local produce to take home! 🛍️🍅
So why not make the most of your trip by using a rental bicycle to discover every hidden gem of Amanohashidate?
With the freedom to ride where the breeze takes you, your visit is sure to be fun, efficient, and unforgettable.
